Building Description: One M&T Plaza was designed by renowned architect, Minoru Yamasaki, and was officially dedicated almost exactly fifty-two years ago on June 13, 1967. The arched forms of the ground floor consist of white marble from Vermont. Slabs of green (verde antique) marble serve as bookends on the sides of the building. The sculptural quality of the exterior is evident at the north and south ends where arches terminate midway and the office block rises up extending beyond the perimeter of the ground floor. The bank lobby features enormous plate glass arched windows, curvilinear travertine steps, and high ceilings with oversized & back lit coffered panels.

M&T Bank commenced operations in 1856 as the Manufacturers and Traders Trust Company. Its headquarters have been located in downtown Buffalo continuously since that time. Locally, M&T is known for its philanthropy. The M&T Charitable Foundation, which offers millions of dollars to thousands of organizations, is recognized as a top corporate contributor in the United States.
